After reading the reviews I was very unsure what to expect. I am glad I went ahead and attended my appointment. I have sought assistance through various "health professionals" but yet to engage a Psychiatrist my only regret is that I did not start this process sooner. I always thought I could fix myself. Well words can not describe how I feel after just one session. Not only did Gary get what was happening to me, worked with me on a plan that I feel so comfortable with. I am someone who takes quite some time to build trust and respect had he gained this within minutes of the session. Not once did I feel judged and he is the first person I have ever told my deepest darkest things I am ashamed of that I hide, but with him I felt accepted and safe. For the first time in many years I feel hope and positive. Gary goes the extra mile to make sure your needs a meet be it longer appointment, more information and makes himself available and I feel so safe to call when I need to. He may not everyone's cup of tea, but to me he is the whole tea pot!!!! Try him, he is honest, kind, empathetic, open and trustworthy. BUT it will only work if you are ready to really take the advice and instructions. Thank you for saving my life, my husband and family x

I had Doctor Larder for a court matter, he was appointed by the court for a professional opinion and I was terrified reading some of the reviews! I walked into his office and was made to feel comfortable immediately. Nothing they did or said, just that feeling. When I met with the doctor I though, "Come on, how is this doctor going to piece the truth together in one single assessment!" He did, and because of his help and professionalism, my matter is over (not entirely him, but he played a massive role!). I found him confident but not arrogant, assured but not cocky. Honestly, I couldn't recommend this doctor more. Just go in, be honest and trust that he knows what he is doing.

I saw Dr Larder regularly a few years ago and he helped change my life. On my first few visits with him, I was unsure how to take him. He has a quirky personality and an offbeat sense of humour that took me by surprise. Once he got to know my story and understand my problems, he very quickly helped provide practical insight into what was happening and what my treatment options were. He didn’t immediately grab his prescription pad, although we tried medication for a while. I was comfortable sharing personal and embarrassing stories with him and never felt like he was judging me, managing me or talking down to me. Very much the opposite. He helped me understand my potential and give me the confidence to pursue the things I wanted. I’m very grateful for his help, kindness and humour.

Dr Larder was great. He wasn't judgemental and listed to me properly. His sense of humour made the consultation fantastic (I was nervous at first because he is the first psychiatrist I've seen and I've had some pretty rude, judgemental doctors in the past). His note-takings skills seemed awesome and the whole time I could see what he was writing so it felt very transparent and comforting.

The review previous to mine sounds incredibly accurate and comparable to my experience with Gary Larder. Unprofessional is the first word I would use to describe him. The guy is incredibly arrogant and will start off by telling you he is the best and that's why people "pay him the big bucks". Many would be turned off by this instantly, but I find people like this are either delusional and incorrect, or actually very good. I hoped Gary might actually be as good as he claimed and gave him a chance with a few sessions. He turned out to be lazy, unprofessional, judgemental, and completely useless. He handed out canned material that was completely irrelevant to my issue (basically printed a googled list of steps that was supposed to be for "victims of a natural disaster", problem is, he forgot to edit out that stuff and also the document name). What is this, grade two? He doesn't process anything you tell him, makes blind judgements quickly, and has an incredibly arrogant attitude that is NOT justified by his skill or abilities. Avoid at all costs. Everyone has problems, but I really hope others will find someone more caring, objective, and professional to deal with them. Gary Larder is a classic douchebag with all the talk, and zero walk.
