Dr Gert Tollesson is an amazing surgeon and a very kind and caring man. Words will never express the debt of gratitude our family owes him. Gert successfully performed very complex brain surgery on our son at QCH. It was a life-threatening diagnosis not without risk. Our son was back at school within two weeks of being released from hospital. Facing brain surgery is terrifying for the entire family, but meeting Gert gave us great reassurance that everything was going to be okay. He has a way of putting you at ease with his down to earth, but professional manner. If you or a family member is facing brain surgery and you have come to this review page to seek assurance that Gert is the right man for the job, take great comfort in the fact that he is a very experienced surgeon, who is a bit of a living legend at Queensland Children's Hospital. Humanity is very lucky to have people like Dr Tollesson. We can't thank him and his team enough. He is a miracle worker walking among us.

He is experienced in performing a wide range of adolescent and adult paediatric intracranial and spinal procedures utilising advanced micro-surgical techniques and state of the art technology. From the initial booking with his front of house admin and accounts team to attending the appointment they are a very well oiled machine. I have had multiple and complex cervical and spinal/ lumbar operations and cannot speak highly enough of the whole process as well as the outcome. How the procedures were explained, as well as Dr Tollesson’s bedside mannerisms and care are second to nonne. He is a true champion in his field and wouldn’t hesitate to refer himself and his team to anyone seeking advice or pain management or surgery in the future.

I'm no spring chicken and needed to have a brain tumour removed ASAP. Dr. Tollesson was very thorough in explaining everything to me prior to surgery. He is down to earth and caring, but very professional. I felt very confident in his expertise. Gert is a brilliant surgeon who I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone facing brain surgery. He gave me my life back!

their appointment system is a joke. 5pm appointment and came in 10min earlier. 1. the reception had a trouble with finding my appointment with the referral. 2. had a quick meeting with a nurse and I was told that the doctor will see me soon. 3. waited almost an hour and seeing people getting in who came in later me. 4. non of staff or doctor told me things are running late. 5 apparently all other patients got notified for the delay but I didn't get a notification at all. 6. I hit the limit and did not want to waste of my time also the stress was causing me pain so I had to leave. I don't think I ever go back to this one again

I had an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) with Dr Tollesson in October and the very next day I felt better than I had in years. I have widespread degenerative joint disease, diagnosed in my early twenties, so every few years I have yet another surgery to stitch together my Raggy Doll body. As far as surgeries go, this was such a pleasant experience. I felt fully informed and confident about what was happening at every step. His support team is absolutely marvellous as well. I saw someone else’s Google review that said Dr Tollesson gave them their life back… I feel exactly the same way and I will be forever grateful.

Amazing surgeon. Very thorough in his assessments. He operated on my husband's neck and was incredibly kind and attentive. He even gives his patients his own mobile number so that he is able to be contacted. Just amazing. His staff Tracey and Michelle are also very kind and supportive. I could not recommend Dr. Tollesson highly enough.
