One of the best Japanese food in Melbourne. They have set menus of 120aud and 180aud. You will be full of the delicious seafood beef etc

We were excited about going to Koko as we hadn’t been for so long due to being from interstate and due to COVID restrictions. We had such a lovely experience last time for Teppanyaki however this time we were left disappointed. It was the long weekend and so we couldn’t get in for Teppanyaki however they were able to squeeze us in for a la carte. We ordered the set Beef Menu. They were very accommodating and on the ball with our allergies and dietary requirements. We ordered the oysters first which was nice. The sashimi and sushi was a bit hard/dry. The meatloaf was nice. The beef steak was very disappointing. The sauce was sour and we could not even eat it with the steak. We could have cooked a better steak at home. The fried rice was very dry and tasteless. The highlight was probably the dessert and the cocktails. And it was our anniversary so it was a nice touch that they wrote Happy Anniversary with a candle on the dessert. It is unfortunately that we will probably never go back there again as the food is way overpriced for what you get and you will find nicer food at a lot cheaper restaurants.

I can see some mixed reviews but we personally had a great experience the night we went. Booked in for teppanyaki for two and were pleased with how clean the chef was while preparing all the food on the hot plate. We ordered the prawns, toothfish, "gold series" striploin, chicken, assorted vegetables and fried rice. The crispy prawn heads were delicious and the toothfish was moist. I had to get the steak well done as I am pregnant but this did not ruin the quality of the meat at all and it was probably my favourite meat. We were sitting with two other groups at the same hotplate and struck up some great conversation with the chef and the two guys next to us. Everything was prepared in a timely manner with enough time between dishes to digest the food and for my partner to enjoy his wine. Desserts were tasty but the pavlova is quite large so consider sharing this if ordering. Bill was 690 for two but this was with two glasses of champagne and a nice bottle of red wine. Will definitely be returning!

Can’t thank sushi chef Taichi for his excellent service and experience of different types of sushi. Amazing.. would definitely come back.

Our dining experience at Koko was simply delightful. We were a hen's group of 13 women, a toddler and a baby and the staff remained coordinated and accommodating throughout. Everyone commented on the ambiance - the Japanese water garden and the views of the river as the sun set. The teppanyaki banquet was prepared right in front of us and tasted delicious. Several of us have said we intend to share the love and visit again with our respective partners. Thank you, Koko - we'll be back!

Amazing experience. Was having a bad day and this just brightened my mood. The food whilst expensive but exquisite. What made this a 5 star for me was the chefs at the tapanyaki grill had bubbly personalities that I didn't want to leave. The Chef de Cuisine came out at the end and was a lovely Japanese man who was so excited to talk about his work and show us his photo album for his 20 year career at the restaurant. Can't recommend this place enough.

Kokos ambience and service are great but please spend your money elsewhere. For 240 dinner for two, the quality was not amazing and their flavour combinations are extremely odd. Nothing seemed to work cohesively. A cube of rice rolled in sesame seeds with a cherry tomato on a sushi plate? An odd salty sweet chilli sauce on a beautiful piece of beef was extremely disappointing and did not work. Would much prefer simple salt for such great beef. - served with rice that was cooked in a dashi or fish broth I believe, was extremely salty and not pleasant at all. The scallops were so bitter due to the amount of zest in their citrus sauce. Tooth fish was overly salted and dry. Their baked prawn and dessert was nice. All in all, there are many other Japanese restaurants that provide better quality and flavours.

As group of 8, we decided to go the banquet. Food was delicious, with the Beef tataki and Angus beef steak winning hands down ! Unfortunately the delays between some dishes were 50 & 45min ... and a lot of filling our glasses with sparkling water left us with an 81water bill.
