The community garden has had a new lease of life since late 2020 with a new team of unfunded volunteer gardeners donating their time plus plants, seeds, watering roster, coffee grounds waste, expertise, manual labour, worm castings and other vermicompost. Over 750kg of bokashi composted food scraps donated by locals has been sunk into the beds to restore the neglected soil. And there is a thriving compost bin and bed sunken worm towers where neighbours add their food scraps. To join in as a volunteer or sponsor, please contact South Melbourne Sustainability Group on Facebook and become a member.

This is a small veggie community garden and orchard developed by the City of Port Phillip in partnership with the local community at the time of the Lyell Iffla Reserve upgrade. It features 5 raised wicking beds with seasonal produce. It's open to everyone and the general rule for the garden is: take what you need and leave the rest to grow.
