Had an elective c-section on the Tuesday afternoon. All went well with no complications. However, I was sent home on the Thursday barely 48hrs later. I had just had major abdominal surgery, could barely move, and felt pressured to leave by the midwives/doctors. I wasn’t even given the results of my blood test because they sent me packing before they were ready. I was terrified, sore and scared. Would’ve been nice to recover one or two more days at least, I was not ready to go home but I was not given any other choice. Two stars because the surgery went well and the food was good.
My wife and daughter were transfered to Mater Mother's from another public hospital. She spent two nights there and our child is staying longer due to her being premature. The difference between the two hospitals in terms of quality of staff and service was very noticeable. Definitely a big downgrade. Kind of like moving from Target to Kmart. The staff really lack that care and kindness. They aren't very helpful at times. We also had a traumatic birth and it was impossible get a social worker and any sort of support to help with this. Well have to go source our own help elsewhere. They have great resources technology and skill wise, but they really lack that "patient first" heart for people. Staff were often rude and unhelpful. Just a really mixed bag to be honest.
My son was delivered here. Midwives were experienced, friendly and helpful. Doctors were professional, knowledgeable and warm. Room was clean and reasonably spacious. Food serving size was rather large and cooked in a healthy manner. Overall, very satisfied with the experience!
Excellent care by teams of professional doctors, midwives, nurses and admin. Food for mums was complimentary and delicious. I really enjoyed my experience there.

God bless these guardian angels....it really makes you see how fortunate we are here to live in Australia....where you get the highest quality facilities with all the top notch staffs...all with experience, patient ,kindness...welcoming and supportive midwives....
