You know how some record stores can be quite intimidating. NOT THIS ONE! It's bright, clean, and the guys always greet you with a cool knowing nod like we do back home in the UK, it's not like the dark little dungeons I'm so used too the guy that owns this outfit genuinely knows his stuff and the staff are also very passionate about music you come here and inhale the the amazing smell of vinyl.... By the way he can get stuff that no one else can even when you think it impossible due to shipping issues these boys can cheers
Great record store, cannot be beaten for quality vinyl, electronic music and customer service. . Let Steve take you on a musical journey and you wont be dissapointed, his knowledge and ear for music is one of a kind.
I was excited to check out this place as I've heard great things, but my interaction with who I only presume was the famous Steve tore me out a new one for mentioning I use discogs (god forbid) in natural conversation. I get my records from everywhere, but he took to this cue to give me a lecture on what 'my problem is' and repeating to me that I 'enjoy wasting money'. I appreciate the brass attitude Steve has because he is clearly very passionate and knowledgable for music, but please don't put your customers in a box and shame me publicly. Steve continued to tell other customers in store what 'my problem was' as I was walking out. Not a great experience at all. But hey, the house record playing at the time sounded fire.
Would I recommend Profile Music? Absolutely not. The store is nice, but I had a very bad experience shopping online with them, and bad service. I would seriously discourage anyone from spending money online with them, especially international customers. My records were packaged extremely poorly, with almost no protective packaging. They arrived in a terrible state, completely unusable. It was no surprise looking at the packaging. When I brought the issue up with Steve in a polite way, he simply refused to pay return postage back to the store for them. I explained that the damage was caused by some bad packaging, but he didn't want to know. He told me it would have cost him 7 AUD more for better packaging, a price he said he was unwilling to pay. I spend over 100 AUD, but now I'm stuck with damaged records barely over 20 dollars with no way to return them. Oh well, they'll make nice ashtrays if you heat them up in the oven for a while.
Run by the king of electronic music in melbourne, gives you the time of day and knows what you like. Highly recommended
