I have been part of PSC's community for the past three years, and I have experienced first hand the high standard of education and services offered to students. The experienced and highly qualified teaching staff have assisted me with my studies at PSC to develop a more concrete knowledge of photography.

I joined one of the part time courses, the communication wasn't as good as I was looking for an advanced course and the course was for people who never touched a cam before.

I graduated from PSC with an Advanced Diploma in 2018 from the part time course. My experience as a student at PSC was a very positive one. Mainly due to the high level of tutor expertise and well honed teaching strategies in areas that I wanted to excel at - namely enhancing my understanding of the creative process and the developmental period with supportive critical feedback to help guide my decisions. And also the technical studio lighting side of photography which is a very tough one to work out without proper guidance and hands on training. The way the course structure was designed at each year level focusing in on each of these components was a clear strong point at PSC. How each course unit incorporated the creation of a project to demonstrate and apply my understanding of what I had learned was I think the main strengths of the pedagogy throughout the course structure. Currently I am drawing on my technical studio training from PSC as I work with commercial clients in portraiture, lifestyle and product photography. Also within my own creative practice I still go through the same process I was taught by writing up a proposal which is designed to unpack the idea and question the communicative intent that underlies each of my own personal projects. My own self critique is a lot more developed and much more informed which hopefully leads to stronger outcomes that are more self-realised and captivating. I think above all it has given me an insight into how vast and incredibly varied the photography world is and by the end of the course I could see my place within it.
