We had our Master Bedroom Window double glazed with Low E glass and Argon Gas by Thermawood a couple of years ago but unfortunately it hasn't changed anything on the noise coming in from the busy road and it doesn't keep any heat out in Winter. The Cost to retrofit this Master Bedroom Window was close to 1,700.00 which seemed a lot but we got promised a noise reduction of 60-70% (35dB) which didn't happen unfortunately. I am writing this review as we are looking into retrofitting with another method or replacing the whole window all together. Don't waste your money like we have.

In May 2020 Judit my wife and I made a decision to act on noise pollution issues affecting our home offices. Looking around the internet for solutions and talking to several businesses we've learned that the best way to go ahead is to get a second window installed. This second window has to be at least 100 mm from the original one using 10.5 mm hush lam glass to get the best results. At this time we have already been in contact with Stephen Davis at Thermawood who are specialising to this sort of works. Stephen was very helpful all the way along and could develop a very good rapport between us. Judit and I decided to accept his quotation. Stephen and his colleague Ian arrived on the promised installation date at 7:30 am. They've been working together as an excellent team, efficiently and very cleanly. They even accommodated my last minute requests. After installation the work area was left clean. The outside noise has been reduced considerably. Since then we asked Stephen to work on phase 2 on the same project which they have finished successfully and now they are working on phase 3. I can recommend Stephen and his business Thermawood without any hesitation. You won't be disappointed if your expectation is an excellent work on a reasonable budget. Thermawood replaced about 30 windows and doors in our home.. The work happened when they said it would, took as long as they said, cost what was quoted and was done very professionally. We are already benefitting from reduced power bills and noise. Very very professional.

Very happy with our double glazed single hung windows. It has made a noticeable difference to traffic sound. Steve was always at our house on the dot when he said he would be for quoting, final measure, and doing the job itself. Highly recommended.
The Thermawood team did an amazing job on our old windows. One window was in such a poor state that we were convinced it needed to be scrapped completely until the Thermawood guys convinced us it was salvageable. It was repaired and now looks like a brand new window. The second time the team worked on our house happened to be a rainy day but this did not deter the guys at all, the job was completed in record time and again to a high quality. They even fixed our door which was badly installed and let in a breeze most evenings. Great company, highly recommend Thermawood to work on heritage listed cottages and colonial buildings.
We were extremely pleased with the ease and support we experienced in meeting with Steve and obtaining a quote for our issue. We live in Adelaide CBD on a rather high traffic, noisy road.In addition we had experienced hot conditions in summer and very cold conditions in winter in our main bedroom and en-suite which both face north and directly onto the street on the first floor with floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom and a smaller window in the other room. After accepting the quote, Steve was quick to follow up to discuss how we might approach the problem. We wanted double glazing on all windows but Steve presented a way of achieving a triple glazing solution! The cost was more than reasonable. The work was done incredibly professionally, pleasantly, calmly and speedily in half a day with no mess for us to clean up afterwards. The results are quite incredible. As a result the noise level in the bedroom is now negligible. We have been amazed by the outcome - much better than expected. In addition, as the weather has moved into the colder months of late autumn and winter, the rooms are nice and toasty virtually all day.So, we don’t need to run the air conditioner to provide warmth - a real plus! Finally, we have found follow up support to reflect the same high level of professionalism and courtesy which characterised the whole project.
