Today we rang Action Metal Recyclers as they were open over the holidays and we needed to dispose of some scrap motors Normally we sell to Metal Biz at Rocklea for 420 a ton but as they were closed we rang Action and were told they were paying 400 a ton We needed to unload 13 motors so decided 20 less a ton was not worth worrying about so down we went. When after unloading the Engines we were told we had only 1.6 ton or 1640kg we were suspicious as we know V6 Engines weigh around 240 kilo and even a 1.6 Litre one weighs around 180 so 13 engines being 1640 means 120 kilo and engine now thats just not correct Well then came the payment and we are told 300 a ton not 400 as new apac rates today.... So after calling at 9am and going there the price shrinks from 400 to 300 and the weight is around 50% .... Moral of story as my old mother would say if in doubt miss them out In this case there is no doubt so please miss them out This is downright dishonesty at full on rates so please be aware We have contacted Queensland Weights and Measures today to have the Weighbridge verified as correct and we have a consumer group who will be Weighing in at Action to see just what is happening OK so Action have skimmed me big time today but hopefully others will be more aware and thir short term gain may cost them long term
