Very nice to find a real Indian restaurant. When they say 'spicy', they mean it;)

The ambiance and staff pleasant enough but the chicken biryani was ultra greasy and the use of chicken thigh fillets with the fat not cooked down left me with a gag reflex. Needless to say I didn't eat much as even the naan was dripping grease. Then to top it off, I suffered with terrible post greasy food digestion from the gut to the butt including nausea and a sluggish body system over the next 19hrs until it could be expelled. The mango lassi and cumin infused papadams as starters were great. MDH ordered the Butter Chicken which was the saving grace for this restaurant visit. When ordering the biryani watch out for the tart plums or the seeds that may be floating around in the rice. Chew carefully as you don't want to suffer a broken tooth when you find it.

Shiva’s food is always delicious, however their wait times vary from fast to ridiculously snail paced. If you order over the phone I’d recommend going at least 15 mins after the time they’ve given you. This is the last time I’ll probably go (I’ll miss the curries but not my time). I ordered over the phone and had to confirm my order repeatedly and every time it was read back to me there was an error. When I finally got them to repeat back the final correct order, I waited... and waited... and waited. I waited more than an hour for 3 curries, 2 samosa and 3 naan. When I arrived they told me it wasn’t ready and if I could please wait or come back, after asking how long it would take, I was given another false time frame. When I got home, they had taken down the wrong order?! The food IS delicious but this isn’t the first time this has happened and it won’t be the last.

We have been regular customers for some time and find excellent quality tasty food and good service every time. The kitchen is good at judging, for us, the difference between mild, medium and hot which means a lot in our house

We were greeted by very friendly staff . The chef clearly understood our request for vegan dishes and prepared food for us that was fresh and flavoursome. Our food arrived quickly and the atmosphere was lovely. We can't wait to come back.

Definitely recommend. Amongst the meals that we got was a very good beef vindaloo, the meat was tender and tasty.
