Very, very, very amateur inauthentic performances. Badly directed. Poorly acted. Cameos by people who have no idea how to sing a tune, but must double as props managers or something. Surprised there were so many people in the audience. Don't actually know how they managed to pull a crowd like that. That said I'm sure it's good for amateurs to get up and do that on occasion. Lots of fun, I'm sure. They probably have lots of laughs. Melbourne Opera probably want to be a pantomime/ comedy performers, but they don't quite allow the audience to laugh enough, as they collapse with their version of Verdi, because they lack sense and reason to perform. That's right, performances need a reason to exist. But you know, at least they follow the score, that takes an effort people, despite thin voices lacking in power and resonance. Cheers, keep having fun and touring little hick towns around Australia. But they should seriously think about sacking their director, or just use him to keep the music score and hire someone who knows how to make life happen on the stage, for something to make up for the lack of oomph in the singers' voices.

Recent performances have been wonderful, especially Tristan and Isolde.

Tonight's Anna Bolena Members of the audience using their phones in the performance; unbelievable. Spoilt a night of good singing particularly the lead.
