We really enjoyed looking through the art gallery and seeing Ken Duncan's art works and many others. They also have a nice little gift shop attached and a cafe with really nice food and coffee.

Originally, I didn’t understand why the addition to the original building was done in such stark contrast to the existing structure. But the more I looked, the more I realised what a smart move thus was. The original was built in a time when tradesmen were craftsmen. The quality and time put into the sign was high. Now things seem to be different. To recreate the intricacy of an older building required too much time and money, let alone skills that seem to have long passed into history. Modern techniques and demands can’t allow the style of yesteryear. So, the decision to go in complete contrast was the best way to go. The addition managed to complement with its contract. If two things are too similar they don’t gel as well ax two contrasting things. The awkward sameness but not the same of two similar design irks more than wild contrast. The more I see this building the more I enjoy the opposing structures.

Gallery is a nice place to visit. I have visited the cafe more often than the gallery. Realy nice food and couple of staff are realy lovely but there are one or two that are a bit intensebordering on rude, specifically about the Covid sign in last time I was there, it felt a bit like entering quarantine not believing that I have registered but needing to see my tick on the government website, we are all adults here :)

Cafe was severely understaffed, leaving a very long wait time before we were even acknowledged as we waited to be seated (approx 20 minutes) Once we had grabbed a servers attention to see if they had any tables available, or if we should try elsewhere, we were shortly (approx 10 minutes) seated and served, after which experience was quite ok. Food was tasty and presented well. We did ask about the delays, and were told it was school holidays and they were run off their feet, however as there were only about three children in the cafe, I believe it was simply a staffing issue. I have visited several times before over the years and always previously was very impressed.

Our first visit and we were blown away! So much so,that we took out a three-year membership! The staff were so friendly and helpful. The numerous exhibitions were excellent. The artist Nell was in attendance to sign her book! Love the historic building that the gallery is housed in. The shop has gorgeous items. The cafe is outstanding. Can't wait to return.
