We booked for 12 people but another 4 arrived. It was no trouble for the staff to find more chairs and make everyone feel welcome. Our meals were delivered promptly, piping hot and delicious. The menu was varied, interesting and very reasonably priced. My rigatoni with chicken and pesto was delicious as too was my partners salt and pepper squid. Well done Royal Oak, we were not rushed, enjoyed our meal and drinks with plenty of time to move on to our concert!

Delicious, well priced meals. Our table of 14 all enjoyed their meals. Husband's pork belly was brilliant and my mussels were spicy and tasty.

Friendly atmosphere. Great staff. Delicious food and prompt service. Downstairs and upstairs dining rooms available plus a rooftop entertaining area. Highly recommend.

Really (really!) enjoyed our meal & drinks at the Royal Oak. Rooftop was open for a lovely sunny afternoon but cooled down pretty quickly in early March. Headed downstairs to the bar for a meal. I had the mussel special & it was generous and tasty (very tasty). The BF had the pork belly and loved the meat although he said the sauce was very rich. Great Tassie wines at affordable prices. Great service. Overall we were very happy with our choice to dine at the Royal Oak

Had a delicious (and big!) dinner last night at The Oak - pork belly, roasted eggplant & vegies, steak, salt & pepper squid, garlic bread. Service & food was excellent. The pub itself is also looking a tad more fancy after some very tasteful renovations by the new owner.

Great food, great staff and cold beer, one of the best little secrets in Launceston. Some great local bands play here.

First Time back in the Public Bar since the rowdy, early, eighties. Has been restored perfectly, I will be back. The renovated upstairs function rooms are amazing, as is the rooftop garden.

Great pub! I’m a chef back in Sydney and was gagging for a good pub feed! Me and my fiancée both had steaks, cooked perfectly. Comes with your choice of potato side (Paris mash, duck fat roasties or chips) super tasty. Really tasty side dishes on offer too, not your usual pub fair which is nice. Highly recommend the beans and peas or the roasted caraway carrots and yogurt. Really nice fit out, still has a classic cosy pub feel without being drab and dingy, lots of private rooms for families and great little terrace upstairs. Good beers, nice Aussie selection.
