We visited on a warm sunny day, the view was incredible and the person in the fire watch tower was friendly and waved to us which was lovely. The track we took to get there definitely requires a 4 wheel drive with low range for the steep inclines and you needed good ground clearance for the washouts but overall, the track was well maintained and not too difficult.

A picturesque hut, sitting on top of Mount Terrible. Access here is via a 4WD only, on a difficult rated track (as per our Hema.) There are picnic tables to enjoy some lunch or simply soak in the endless mountain ranges.
Magnificent view over the mountain tops... I'm sad to have not taken any photo's. I don't know why I didn't....!?

One of the best views from a hut in the high country. Newly rebuilt hut with a bit belly inside if you are staying up the night. Picnic tables and a fire pit out the front. Not a hard 4wd track to get to it just steep in a few spots.
