One of the best colleges I have ever visited.

The Christian ethics and people at this college are good if you're spiritually inclined. The party and drinking culture (outside of college, New is dry) was not so good for me. Food was wanting for a vegetarian, and I certainly prefer taking care of my own food now as a vegan. It was pretty expensive, but if you're struggling financially they can help with generous subsidies.

Brilliant college with a kind and open community filled with brilliant residents, not to mention great staff. The food is above average and the wifi is alright. Large Christian community and plenty of parties as well, if either of those are your thing. Also has some brilliant societies, with everything from boardgame to foreign goods to puzzles. Overall a fantastic college, highly recommend.

Stayed here for a conference. This review would be 1 star, except that there was a truly amazing staff member who went above and beyond making sure everyone with dietary requirements got the right food, and trying to find fans for those of us who were overheating. Bed: dreadful, multiple people reported sore backs after sleeping on the beds. Tall people said their feet were hanging over the end. Room: a hot box with no fan, no AC, and dodgy fly screens (Each room had a collapsible fly screen in a cupboard, which could be extended to almost fit in the window opening - a finicky, sub-standard "solution"). The room did have a blackout curtain, but having it closed killed any breeze. Poor room configuration - there were 3 lights in my room, and none of the switches were reachable from the bed. Location: One side of the building overlooks an oval which had bright lights on until late. The other side overlooks road works. I hope you like the sound of jackhammering at 4am. Food: cooked food was fine, standard cafeteria fare, decent selection of salads at lunch. Packet foods (eg breakfast cereals) tasted stale. Fruits were often overripe or off. Good selection of non-dairy milk. Wifi: default wifi "not good enough for streaming video," apparently.

Honest Review

I am disgusted by New College. Bill Pierson is rude, controlling, inflexible and all round a bad dean and now master of the college. Someone like him should not be working at NC. Last year, I was badly bullied at NC, informed Bill of what had happened and he did nothing to help stop what was happening. He was unprepared to listen to my circumstances and claimed what had happened to me was my fault! I am so disgusted, Bill is a horrible dean and stole money from me by claiming I had broken the college rules when I HAD NOT!!! He fined me for breaking the rules on completely unreasonable grounds and I will forever consider him taking this money from me as THEFT since he is not entitled to it. Bill is intrusive, disrespectful and patronizing and shows no respect for the residents of New College. I look forward to the day when he no longer works at New College. He is also a huge liar and makes false accusations towards residents. If you ever have conversation with him where he makes promises, make sure you record the conversation - otherwise he lies afterwards and claims he "never said that". Do not trust Bill - he is a liar, manipulative and has no morals. He is a scammer and looks for any way to suck more money out of New College residents.
