Went on the guided tour with Mel, very informative and enjoyable tour! She had a wealth of knowledge about the animals, the plants and the sanctuary. Although the environment is different now due to the 2019/20 bushfires, it was still very worthwhile to visit and see the regeneration and see the animals coming back. We saw kanagroos and lots of koalas! Highly recommend.

Lovely sanctuary. We did the nocturnal walk. I’d say it’s a little expensive for what it is but it was still good. At first I thought we could have seen most of it for free but then we did see some more interesting sights as it grew darker such as koalas walking along the floor and possums. They provide torches

A place to go to see the Koalas, they are amazing little creatures, just make sure that here is no tourist buses, they do not stay long anyway...

You can see wild koala, kangaroo and other animals that they should are not keep in cage. There are about 40 koala hanging on the trees. You cannot touch the animals in there but it is good to see they can live naturally without human feeding.

Spot a lot of wild koalas in the trees by self guided tour. Went at noon so only found 1 wallaby as they are all hiding in the shades. Recommended to go early or afternoon with guided tour.

Came here as an itenary on the two-day Kangaroo Island tour by Sealink! Had a great lunch of a homemade beef pie, with salad and rice. Walked among the trees and koala spotting afterwards was a great post-meal activity.

Great place to see koalas relaxing in the trees. This isn't a zoo, the koalas can move around freely from tree to tree. The staff put markers at the trees where koalas have been spotted that day so you know where to look. We saw a couple of babies, which was awesome.

We were the first visitors the Sanctuary had after 6 months of being closed following the bushfires. Although a lot of damage had been done by the fires Jim took us on a tour that was fantastic, sharing a wealth of knowledge and anecdotes that he has gained in his time at Hanson Bay. Even after the fires there are signs of regrowth and regeneration, we saw koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, rare birds, rare plants and beautiful scenery. We would happily recommend the bushwalk to anyone visiting kangaroo island. Thanks Jim!
