The pedestrian path for the bridge is currently under construction as of the writing of this review, but the lookout provides a nice vista of it spanning the gap of the river below. Note that it is only one-lane, so you will have to do some negotiating with other vehicles across the bridge.

The only working wooden suspension bridge in the whole continent with beautiful sandstone pillars and arches. Surrounded by lush green trees its a magical spot for a nice photograph at any time of the day. Just be careful about the upcoming traffic from either side.
Hampden Bridge looks more like something you expect to see in England than Australia. It’s super cool looking and a bit of a surprise driving through Kangeroo Valley. There is a lovely river walk below the bridge and there a a tons of places to high canoes. The bridge is single span and is the only surviving suspension bridge from the colonial period in New South Wales; and is the oldest and only timber suspension bridge still carrying vehicular traffic still in operation within Australia. It’s well worth stopping to snap a few pics and go for a stroll along the river pathway.
As a old convict built bridge goes. It wasn't too bad
Australia's last surviving wooden iconic suspension bridge named after NSW's Governor Lord Hampden (1895-1899). Besides the 28 steel cables which was manufactured from England, all wooden timber and sandstone materials used to build this masterpiece was sourced from within the Shire local area itself. Completed in 1898, by 2002 the National Trust listed the bridge as an Industrial heritage site. You must see it while it still stands strong! The river access barbecue area hold sufficient car parking spaces with public toilets. There's a beautiful walking trail that will take you around the lake itself and down the lake where you will see the bridge from a different angle through stones in the river if you wish. There are a few lookout points scatered through out it's walking trail where you can absorb all natures lush green views and feel at peace with one's self! The River flows magically. Enjoy its serenity! Dog friendly! We also visited the fenced off tiny animal farm that held goats, chicken and roosters. Its historical significances was awe inspiring! One children, adults and your furry 4 legged friends will appreciate.
One of the oldest bridges of Australia. Worth going and taking a photo.
Old school wooden suspension bridge, single lane only Commuters are reasonable and take turns crossing
Very iconic wooden hanging bridge. Small town nearby with an antique flavour, and good kayaking spots. Bridge is only wide enough for traffic in one direction at a time.
