The golf course has been run down to discourage use. This has been a deliberate tactic by the owners to create an opportunity for a sale to developers planning for housing infill. However, what remains are the amenity that exists for owners of homes within the Glen Iris Golf Estate. The golf course is not zoned for residential development except for a parcel zoned R40 and requires an application for rezoning. This has been a gamble by the new owners or something more sinister. The zoning application will be challenged at local and state level. This development has the potential to destroy communities not improve them. I gave 5 stars for the amenity of the housing estate designed around the fairways with many residents backing directly onto to the golf course. The privilege for this amenity has been reflected in the premium paid for land and house in the estate and should not be taken away by simply rezoning for residential infill.
Ive never felt so alive the moment I stepped on the green I new I wanted to come here for golfing for the rest of my life the service was impeccable the bar had everything I wanted I would definitely recommend this place to my mates, which I did. I would want to get married on this green but my wife would like it to be at a relatives., I can't wait to show my kids this place when they're older. I want to retire early so I can more frequently attend this beautiful location with my family.
Average course. Really requires some work to get it back up to scratch. Fairways terrible, second tee box so covered in leaves you struggle to find it. Have not played here for a while and I will not be back until it's back up to scratch
Hi John, enjoyed our game today except to say the bunkers have a lot of weed in them. A bit of a shame as normally all looking good. Also on the 10th. So many pug marks..such a shame players don't fix them. See you next week. Robyn
Great course and great staff. Regularly play here and love it everytime! Greens are kept real well, really good course!
The lay out of the course in unbearable well done...but fairways bunkers and green the are pitiful ... great service at the pro shop but no breakfast... shop open late .... 3 stars in weary generous
I HAVE SPENT MANY HAPPY DAYS,PLAYING THE LAKES GOLF COURSE,NOW NAMED " GLEN IRIS"" THEY HAVE MADE MANY CHANGES OVER THE YEARS,THE OLD HOTEL WAS REPLACED, WITH THE GLEN IRIS BAR AND RESTAURANT. IN THE SEVENTIES,WITH DAVE MACMULLEN WE WON THE MEXI TOURNAMENT A COMPETITION FOR TWO AMATEURS AND A PRO, THREESOME.IT WAS A BIG EVENT IN THOSE DAYS.I HAVE HAD GOOD REPORTS ON THE FOOD,IN THE RESTAURANT, I KNOW THE BEER IS GOOD. THIS IS A VERY GOOD PUBLIC GOLF COURSES ️\u200d️️\u200d️️\u200d️️\u200d️️\u200d️
