Decided to jump off the highway and have a pub meal. Seemed like a fun vibrant pub with great friendly staff. Food was good.

Took my hubby there for his birthday lunch As Advertised on there website free lunch to the value of 18 with proof.Went to order for both of us and bar girl says no we don't do that free birthday lunch deal anymore as the website is old, goes and checks with other bar staff member and she's just shaking her head No How is it that it is there for all to see and you rudely shake your head and say it's because the web site is old, won't be coming back bar staff are rude,,your chef is amazing tho but wasting his time there!

I recently went to Gympie intending to stay there overnight. I stayed at a fantactastcly restored historical hotel called the Australian hotel. I ended up staying four nights, rooms are like 3/4 star. It's a great place for a base if you want to day trips. Situated a short walk to the gympie's cbd, lots to do and look at. What the most impressive was the publican John Balkin truly one of most amazing men ive ever met. He bent over backwards to help. He would personally bring my order from the fantastic restaurant. He would ask if I needed anything and even though he was run off his feet he stop and have a general conversation. Ive been around the world and this hotel run by John Balkin is the top 5. I've been to lots more fancier Hotels. The welcome and atmosphere is second to none.

Splendid period hotel on the hill with nice views. Recently renovated keeping the charm intact. We (2 people) stayed one night here during October and had dinner in the dining room. Very high ceilings throughout with a lovely functional wrap around verandah with our room having direct access. Meals were of very generous size and delivered in reasonable time considering the dining room was full on the night we were there. Shared toilet, bath rooms and including basic kitchen with some cooking facilities. Staff very friendly and helpful. Exceeded our expectations. (and also had a comfy bed.) Recommended.

Booked in on Sunday, 14th feb. about 4pm. Room 4. Was told they close at 6pm and no meals. No worries. I said I would walk down-town for a feed. Barmaid told me they didn’t have a key to let me back in as they had lost it, but would leave the back gate and back door open for me to get back in, showed me where to go. Got back about 8pm, padlock on the gate, couldn’t get in? What to do? Climbed a few gates and fences. Still couldn’t get in. Bashed on a few doors and windows for 15 minutes, finally got let in by another tenant. Never been treated like this at any pub or hotel before. If the manager/owner has any decency they will email me about a refund. My advice: stay anywhere else!!!

Had tapas upstairs at Room 5. The asian tapas fried spring rolls, samosa, etc were stone cold in the centre so possibly fried from frozen??? All but one item on the tapas menue was fried food - don't know how successful this will be with proper foodies. Some traditional Spanish tapas wouldn't go astray. Won't be going back for tapas until the food is upgraded!
