What a great experience! There was great attention to detail with the sun going down we were asked multiple times if the blinds were in a good spot for us. The food we had was tasty and they were ale to customise the level of spice to accommodate what we wanted.

A quite pleasant atmosphere compared to majority of the other SL restaurants in VIC. Went there on the 01/01 for lunch - was not that crowded however, felt it was short staffed as the service was quite rushed. The lady seemed to be quite organized although there was one gentleman who went about his business without even a single acknowledgment or any help with the service who continued to mop, spray and clean around the restaurant as it was closed for cleaning - came across as quite rude and disregard for others - perhaps the focus is more on dinner guests? In terms of food and drinks, loved the fish Ambul Thiyal and the cheese roti. The wood apple was quite good, the rice and curry was quite average The noodles and Kotthu rotti was ok - there was nothing distinct to mention as such. Overall there was no wow factor in food at the same time it was not a disappointment.
PLEASE READ The reviews provided are very misleading. There are serious issues with this restaurant. They are very very expensive, tasteless food and improper customer service. Their spring hoppers were overcooked and not soft at all. Kiri thothi was bland and insipid. Deviled chicken was overcooked. Not one item in the order was good. This place should consider menu from Elephant corridor.
Owners have extended the floor area by incorporating the adjoining block, adding new interior design.... this has given the restaurant a unique look and an amazing atmosphere. Great food, friendly service and knowledgeable staff! We'll recommend Upali's any time!

Rude manager who was condescending and hostile. We were a party of 6, but had an unexpected cancellation by one person at the last minute. The person / manager at the front desk told us off in front of other patrons. She then berated us for a second time at the table. What a misrepresentation of our beautiful Sri Lankan hospitality! We do not pay good money to be told off in this fashion. There was no information provided at time of reservation about notification of cancellations. It was the people who attended who got “scolded”. Happy to pay your 20 extra for cancellations! Shocking behaviour by this manager who clearly lacks hospitality and customer service skills. Food was good and other staff were lovely. We have always supported Upali’s both online or in person but will no longer bring our custom after this.
Great food and very classy function room for 30 odd people. Awesome drinks menu and BYO
Dropped in to this restaurant and smelled great! However they messed up our order horribly, so after a really long road trip, I just had to take the food away and left hungry. The least they could've offered was to not charge us for the dish, but they did.
