I walked in with 0 idea about telescopes only knowing i wanted to start into astronomy and also be able to share that with my daughter. So helpful, gave me a few options and discussed things now a week later I couldn't be happier. Very welcoming staff great place go even for total beginner like me!

I've been dealing with BINTEL for more than a couple of decades now. Parking can be a little tricky and so for many products it's smarter to just have them post the items out to you. But you can usually park nearby or even beside the BINTEL store and load up with essentials. Since there's no other major stores of this nature nearby, some popular stock is occasionally unavailable at the time if demand exceeds the capabilities of international shipping. But on the few occasions I needed gear or accessories, they were able to provide them within a day's notice. The staff that I have spoken with when visiting the store or even phoning directly have had plenty of experience of their own as astronomers and/or astrophotographers. I appreciate the suggestions and advice offered to me over the years. I did have one slightly unusual experience where I came into the store with cash but one of the staff talked me out of buying the items I wanted. I found this to be a somewhat bewildering experience. He was still helpful and polite (hence the 5-Star review). Eventually I bought what I needed. In the recent year I've been dealing with Jess - who has been incredible with assisting me procure what I require, and in offering me advice from her own experience. The staff have helped me with loading heavy/bulky equipment and subsequent accessory requirements were squarely met.

I can't complain about online purchasing when items are in stock. The problem is the website is deceiving when items are not in stock. There are many items marked as "more on the way", and others that are marked as "out of stock" which leads you to believe the ones marked as "more on the way" are simply low in stock, or more stock arriving imminently. I purchased a barlow lens in December 2020 as a google advert showed the item as being "in stock", and their website allowed the purchase to go ahead despite it not being clear that it was out of stock. I waited a few days with the purchase still being processed, and only found out after asking them that the item was out of stock. I was then told to expect the item to arrive mid January. I was then told to expect it to arrive around end of January. It's now March and I can't get a reply to when I can expect this item to arrive. If I knew this would happen I would have simply ordered directly from an overseas store that had them in stock.

I don’t have any complaints about the shop. But I ordered Telescope online and on the web site showed I’ll receive it in early March. That was the only reason I bough that model. Because it was a surprise birthday gift for my husband and the other models would arrive end of March. I called their number on 6th of March and a lady on the phone told me it will arrive mid March and she laughed and said our website is wrong!!! I called 18th of March and a guy told me it will arrive next week. And when I explained the situation he went silent on the phone. I had to ask are you there a few times?! I called on 22nd of March and told a lady on the phone that I’m going away on 25th and I really need the telescope before I go. She told me you will get it before you go. It was a pick up order. So they had to call me to go and pick it up. Nobody called me until 31 of March which I couldn’t go. I understand delays but the decent thing is to letting your customers know that there is a significant delay. And don’t laugh, or don’t go silent on the phone and try to understand the situation from customers perspective. It is not that hard!

Bintel are awesome, they got me started with zero knowledge but made sure what I bought would suit my goals, even if I didn't know what they were at the time, they have a 6th sense, they knew what I needed by asking the right questions. Astronomy gear can be a tricky business but Bintel's advice along the way ensured that I did not purchased redundant gear or a double up of gear. After doing my own product research, they even stop me from buying the wrong thing and I appreciate this level of honesty, buying the wrong thing is very easy to do in astronomy and astrophotography! Bintel's prices are also super competitive but with this you also get the backup and advice that you WILL need. You can't go wrong at Bintel especially if you are starting out.
