As someone who lives in the valley, I really wish these guys were open for lunch. Value, service, and quality are all stellar, especially compared to some neighbouring restaurants. Quite honestly, I find the service to be the biggest reason why I go. Certain staff members really want to provide a great experience for you each time you visit. Kudos to them.

*Not The Vietnamese Restaurant as it was before-pandemic* The owner of this restaurant has not changed as verified by the Australian Business Registry query. More importantly, the service staff are as warm yet efficient as before. However, the quality and value of the food/menu has drastically changed beyond what would be expected from post-pandemic necessities. I have it on excellent authority and from tasting the dishes, that there is a new chef at the restaurant, one that seemingly cuts corners to deliver a product without regard to the 'soul' this previously excellent place one had. As a customer of The Vietnamese Restaurant for over 5 years, it is with a heavy heart that I no longer recommend this place as an Asian restaurant worthy of consideration. I certainly hope that the 30 years owner of The Vietnamese Restaurant does what is necessary to prevent this Brisbane icon from going out with a whimper.

Great food, but I’m so disappointed that they are no longer open for weekday lunch. I work in the valley and me and lots of people I know would be here for lunch almost every day if they were open. Seems like a totally baffling decision to me - pre-pandemic they were super busy every single lunchtime, then they closed for awhile but now that everything’s back to normal they are still not doing lunch and apparently have no plans to. Not even on Fridays, which means essentially I will probably never eat here again as I’m never in the valley outside work hours. Makes no sense and they must be alienating a lot of very loyal long term customers... such a shame.

Can not recommend enough! Definitely get a bunch of dishes and share!! It’s incredibly affordable and delicious! Every time I try something new it’s a hit. Best pho. Sizzling lamb is awesome. The place is always busy and it’s a small family run operation so relax and enjoy.

I've been a long time customer of the Vietnamese where generally the food and service has been great. Unfortunately, lately the quality of both the food and service has been on the decline. On my last visit, after accepting our booking and seating us, my group was told that if we wanted to BYO we would not be allowed to share food. That is, everyone at the table would have to buy there own full course meal. This is after we confirmed we could share food on the phone when making the booking. I ordered the pork spare rib and fried rice, which actually turned out to be a pork chop. The meal was average. After paying and cross checking their menu online, we noticed that we had been overcharged for a number of dishes by 1. If your thinking of going to this restaurant, I highly suggest heading a few shops down the The Vietnamese House. Otherwise, make sure you check your bill before paying!
