An amazing chess club for begineers and advanced players alike. I have been coming since 2017 and will continue to come to the club for many years. There are both regular fast-play and long-play events - suitable for all types of chess players.

Friendly team of volunteers and very accomodating. Great facilities and good coaches. Would love to see more classes tailored towards beginners.

A prestigious and ideal place for serious chess players. Yearly membership comes with different types of opportunities including lessons from grandmasters. Do not judge the place by the look because these people do not bother about the look but some serious chess. You can meet grandmasters and international masters here regularly. A place MUST visit for every Melbournians.

A Melbourne chess institution. Saturday2pm Swiss Alegro rounds are a fun competition for all ages with reasonable chess skills. Casual visits welcomed.

Called in to this place on a Saturday and took part in their regular Saturday Allegro. Well organised with a good range of player strength. The separate player hall allowed for analysis and discussion without disturbing those who were still playing. There were preparations in pace for a norm tournament later that evening and the postings on the wall showed that there were many opportunities for attending classes and taking part in other mid-week tournaments. The Melbourne Chess Club is fortunate to have its own premises and should continue to leverage off this valuable asset. Any chess player visiting Melbourne should try to make it down here for a game or two.
