I struggeled to get a ferry to fitzroy but when i did get there it was simply amazing although i did not stay in the resort i was more interested in the scuba diving i kept going back each day (They offered me a job because i kept going back lol) so this alone tells you how great it was . I saw nemo and his friends swimming amongst the coral and fish you'd only see in fish tanks. It was truely amazing, as for any sharks a big no but saw some limpit fish and at the time i was thinking ok where theres limpit fish there must be a shark some where but no not at all perhaps i was lucky. Would i go again eh . In a heart beat.thank you fitzroy another of the wonders of the world fantastic.

Expensive to hire sub-par snorkelling gear that leaks. On one day there were 3 very rude staff, not just to us but to other people. Had I not gone back to return my gear the next day and met a very nice employee I'd never have gone back. I would not leave the other 3 in charge of my safety on any diving trip. It's nearly cheaper to buy your own gear before you get to the island if you just want to snorkel. That way you don't need to even visit them.

Amazing experience with really friendly and knowledgeable staff at the dive shop! Michael was incredible! He helped me overcome my insane fear of getting into the water and spurred me on to take the plunge! He was very patient and his sense of humour got me over the edge and after 25 years in Australia I finally saw the incredible Reef, swimming and snorkelling for the first time. Thank you!

I scuba dived at Fitzroy Island over a four day period. The dive centre staff compiled a dive itinerary covering boat, shore and night dives. The day trip on their boat Sunkist to the reef was worth it. Appreciated their hospitality, hoping to return to the island soon.

Way too expensive for what you get when you buy snorkling day trip with them. The outer reef is 75% bleached. Nothing much to see there. But they won't tell you that. Similar reef to that one is just off the Fitzroy Island beach. The journey takes 6 hours out of which 3,5 hours is a trip to the reef itself. They go there daily anyway because they take people to the bigger boat that is anchored next to the reef. So Aud 150 per person just for 2,5 hours of actual snorkling plus food ( mostly some pasta and Vegs) is a rip off.

The resort itself is modern and clean, but the facilities are not well maintained or looked after. After a very delayed transfer because the boat had engine trouble we arrived and were checked in by a couple of very unhappy/unhelpful staff. There are two eating options - a restaurant which is very nice but overpriced, or Foxys bar which is a great place to sit, but the food was atrocious. We stayed in a beachfront cabin, advertised as opening right onto the beach, however the cabin is actually built just in front of the main resort building, and a busy gravel road lies between it and the beach. Our room had the smallest bathroom I have ever seen, broken taps and towel rails, and was missing the air con remotes. The gardens are generally not well maintained except for around the lobby and restaurant. The childrens play room had a sandfly nest in it, so we ventured to the resort pool. I was quite suprised to see the pool bar only open for a couple of hours in the afternoon, then close at 4pm, just as the guests started to get comfortable! Most of the coral on the reef around the island is bleached or broken up, and seeing it littered with beer bottles and rubbish is saddening, however the fish life is abundant and beautiful. As a Cairns local it was a very disappointing visit. If it had not been so expensive to stay on Fitzroy island much of the above could have been forgiven. There are other nearby islands with far better facilities and service, that cost far less. I suggest looking around.
