At the birthing unit and in women's health, we received patient and caring support. The midwives, doctors, ob-gyn and surgical staff all seemed skilled and kind. Hard to believe that it was all completely free! Overall, pretty happy

Doing the best job they can due to being under resourced and not sufficiently financially supported by the government. There is a great kiosk with a good variety of food and gifts.

went to the ED because it’s what you’re told to do if you’re feeling like you may hurt yourself and end your life and i waited over 6 hours for them to say i had to go home because i wasn’t severe enough even though i told them i had a plan to end my life. kept telling me i wasn’t bad enough to be in hospital and be seen which made me feel worse. asked to talk to a psychologist or psychiatrist and they said i’m not suicidal enough to be seen. really unprofessional and no empathy at all. feel super turned away and let down. i don’t know what i’m supposed to do now because i always get told to call 000 or go to hospital and when i did they turned me away...

Last Monday, 5/4/21 my mother was admitted to the Modbury hospital with a severe stomach pain. She was attended to the ER immediately and later on transferred to Lyell Mc because she had a gallbladder inflammation and the surgery was to be carried out at the Lyell Mc. I was with her most of the time and I saw the care she got from the most amazing staff that works at this hospital. I couldn't falter any staff at this fantastic hospital. From the time you met the front desk staff to the doctors, nurses, cleaning staff, the team ward managers etc, etc, they work tirelessly. I think if I could give more staff I would. The food was lovely and there was nothing short of anything. I had a cup of tea everyday, while waiting aside of my mother and although the tea is for patience only no one said that I was not allowed to. I want to give special thanks to the nurses I've met. Young EN Montana, she is a little pocket rocket, wonderful RN Sue and the lovely RN Nicole or Les I am sorry I cannot remember her name, and all the other staff attended my mother were brilliant. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. This was the second surgery my mother had here and both times she was looked after so well. I only have one little concern. Its the night staff or rather lack of night staff. As the patients were left a longer time un attended after ringing the bell several times. My mother was in Ward 2B. I hope you could improve on the night shift staff. Thank you so very much for giving my mother and all the other ladies in this ward such a wonderful experience at their most vulnerable times. You guys are truly nightingales.
