I can't thank Andreas from Gioia On the River enough for the exceptional work he and his staff put into making my 60th Birthday such an amazing event. Andreas was so helpful and easy to deal with from the moment I went to talk him about my birthday lunch- nothing was too hard. He was so obliging and professional every step of the way. All the food on the day was exceptional and everyone is still raving about it, especially the seafood, which was phenomenal. The day ran so smoothly and I knew I didn't have to worry about a single thing, except to enjoy my day. Thank you to Andreas and all the staff of Gioia On The River for making my birthday celebration so special.

Absolutely beautiful food, staff and service. Cannot fault this place. The Marinara was chock full of seafood and the Beetroot Gnocchi was to die for. Look forward to coming back again to try some beautiful authentic Italian Food. Thank you so much for a beautiful Saturday night. If I could give 10/10 I would. Highly recommend.

I came here twice in one week with my wife and this is our new favourite restaurant now. The food is excellent, so tasty and very well presented a little pricy but worth every dollar. The staff are very attentive and friendly which we really like. A very interesting wine selection that I can't complain about. The view is spectacular and for a lazy Saturday afternoon relaxing by the waters edge is just perfect.

On our recent visit to Perth we dined at Gioia on the River and it was a delightful experience. The food and wine were excellent and the wait staff were charming and most helpful. We enjoyed it so much that we returned a few nights later and the experience was just as good. I just wish we had a Gioia here in Canberra ; we would certainly be there every week.

Fantastic spot on the East Perth waterfront and a delicious meal all round. Went here for birthday special occasion and enjoyed all. A windless night, during outside overlooking the shimmering lights on the water gives a European flavour to the setting. Food was delicious and unpretentious, good clean flavours. Service was friendly and knowledgeable and were helpful in deciding wine choice.

Very disappointing. After reading the reviews we were really looking forward to eating here last night. Unfortunately our experience left more than a lot to be desired. Our booking was for 6.30pm, our mains arrived at 8.30pm. A two hour wait for main meals is ridiculous. After the 1st hour we asked what was the hold up, as the table next door had already had 2 courses delivered while we were waiting and were told it was because we were a table of 6. Hello?? Prior to the wait for the meals there was another issue. My wife who is a light eater asked for the entree sized Prawn dish to be served as a main. We were told this wasn't possible because the entree chef wouldn't be able to co-ordinate with the mains chef for the entree to arrive with the other mains. Hello?? So she ate her prawns cold when the other mains finally arrived 1 and a half hours later. The waitress was lovely. The location is beautiful but clearly there's a problem in the kitchen with this place. Not recommended at any price (and it is very expensive!!).

Sincere thanks to Andrea and staff at Gioia on the River for the exceptional service provided in the planning and delivery of my 70th birthday lunch celebration. All involved continue to express their satisfaction of the service, food, venue and indeed that “feeling of belonging”. Wow - it was such a perfect and memorable day on all aspects. It was great to be able to communicate with all guests at the table, the food was delish and such quality and quantity - both vegan and non vegan - will return to taste the many choices. Our young grandchildren were also well catered for and treated so special - something they will also remember. I have no hesitation in recommending “Gioia on the River” for any planned (or non planned) event. As a bonus underground free parking is available.

We dined here for my Husband's Birthday and indulged in a degustation/wine pairing feast! Absolutely sensational traditional Italian and flawless. We stayed 3 hours and would happily have stayed for dinner too had we not had other plans. Felt like we were back in Italy and the seating on the waters edge was perfect! All seating there is perfect actually. Thank you Andreas and your beautiful daughter & staff. We will be back. Ciao
