The pastry is more like plaster than shortcrust. But what's inside is truly scary. Bought a pack at Woolies of the chunky Royale. It's what I imagine solyent green would taste like (go look it up). Nothing chunky about it. Just a horrible off putting dark mass. That leaves 3 for the bin. Bad buy.

I have noticed that the pastry that you use has changed! The oval Sargent's name on the top of your pies is still short crust but the rest is substandard bog standard pastry. Shame, I used to love them.
I only work there as a contractor but everytime I'm there I Chow into a couple of pies. Yummy.

Sargents chunky premium pies have slowly but surely lost their chunk and started allowing more fat and gristle... funny... not funny... cause the premium price still remains. After having gut issues a few years back this was the only pie I could still enjoy. I can smell fat and ever slightly suspicious meat a mile away so now im back to no pies. Huge disappointment! One star for stinginess!!! P.S Those ovals atop the pie with your name on it.... they taste like poo! Save your there and bring the chunks back!
I thought i bought beef and cheese pies, Frozen 4 pack, when i opened the pack it turned out they were 'Italian Style Beef n Cheese", I was gutted but hungry so I heated one in the oven. It was without a doubt the most DELICIOUS pie. Totally recommend them
Good flavor but steak and onion should have chunks of steak otherwise it's just mince and onion
