I had a late dinner at home, my wife accidentally inhaled some bread into her lungs. She was coughing badly for half an hour, we went to Monash Medical Centre Emergency Department, stayed there for 4 hours without seeing a doctor. After that, we went to a private hospital where she got urgent medical treatment (X ray, ECG and Bronchoscopy). I talked to the medical staff, the emergency doctor in charge started complaining about the work load before understanding my wife’s situation. It was clear that the medical staff never heard of “duty of care” or customer serviced understand how could such centre still operate in Melbourne.

I will give you guys a tip . If you r planing to go emergency department! There are few items you must bring in !! Phone charger, popcorn, soft drinks and (the most important) netflix or any streaming service that you can watch at least 5 hours if you r dying or had an incident and seriously injured. I will never, ever eveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer go there again unless im dying.
Monash Emergency and Monash Hospital overall, is world class. You cannot fault the care and attention in this wonderful hospital. For all those who whine about sitting for hours, perhaps go to the local doctor. Triage works to identify those most in need, as it should be.

It is not an emergency room. What a horrible place, we have been waiting for at least 3 hours and we have not been able to see a doctor. It is totally a nightmare, don’t ever come here if you feel you have an emergency!
What a horrible experience , I came in last night at 8:30pm and it’s currently 8am in the morning (been sitting for 11hours) and I am still not been seen by a doctor nor in a hospital bed ! Absolutely ridiculous, terrible service. I do not recommend this hospital, never coming again !
No sense of urgency in emergency ward. If you do decide to come in be prepared to wait for 2-3 hrs and unnecessary rude customer service.
I was absolutely overwhelmed with the dedication and care form the CAT team and the support staff. They truly care and support you during your lowest moments. Thank you and good on you!
