”We Won” statue. Commissioned by NSW Premier Sir Henry Parkes in 1891 - installed 1893. Sculptured by Tommaso Sani, whose work also include the Pitt Street façade of the GPO in Martin Place. Restoration work conducted in 1988 - funded by the Centennial Park Trust and Eastern Suburbs Junior Rugby League. The statue shows a rugby union player - the Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club wasn’t founded until January 1908.
