I attended Family Self Defence Academy at Castle Hill ,I like the way the instructors guide you through strategies. It’s a great training environment, it has awesome instructors with advance knowledge. During my attendance I gained confidence, strength and concentration. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for an Martial Arts Academy.

My son has been going for the last 6 months and really enjoys it. It has helped build some strength and skills all whilst he has fun. It is not cheap but the price includes all equipment and gradings so I think it is a fair price. Class sizes are usually small (around 10 to 15) and well run. I agree the notice period is a bit onerous but I am sure that could be negotiated.

I like the way self defence is taught here. Unlike other self defence places, this one has a practical approach and help people feel more confident in any circustances. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. They teach people of different ages from kids to adults. Good for fun and exersices.

I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Way overpriced, they require a notice period up to 6 months! And we are talking about children here who can change their mind, have different interests etc, you may change your location and it will become hard to take children there, but you still need to drag your child to the class even if he/she doesn't want to go anymore or loose a lot of money! There are a lot other good places around which don't require such a commitment and cost a lot less. The classes are overcrowded, often my child was not attended to and did nothing for 10 minutes of the class (which only lasts 40 minutes by the way!).

I am writing this on behalf of a member that doesn’t have a google account - We have been member since September 2017 The way in which Family Self Defence teach the younger kids (7yr and below) is great. The kids don’t even know they are doing push ups and sit ups because of the way the class is structured and the way they teach them. My children are having a great time here. It gave me - their parent - incentive to join my self. I have also found that the way we are all being taught during the actual training sessions is tailored to each person. The head instructor seems to intuitively know what you need to hear to get the kick or the punch or the movement right so that you can keep improving. There are many fitness and skill levels, yet the environment that the head instructor has created seems to make all the students gel and a great sense of inclusion is there. Loving every training session we have!!!!
