The staff are absolutely wonderful at Mirikai I cant thank them enough. Carla is one of the most supportive psychologists I’ve had and when I wasn’t well she gave me weekly sessions and even helped in between sessions if I needed which happened a few times. I’m not an easy client to treat I have complex ptsd, bpd and bipolar but Carla knew what treatments to do and it really helped. Trent is also wonderful and even if he was busy he would make time and take me aside and have a talk and he did that multiple times during my stay. Even though Trent is not a psychologist and one of the support workers inside mirikai he is extremely gifted at grounding me when I was having flashbacks and any other emotional issues I was having during my stay when the psychologists weren’t available. I can’t fault one staff member but those are the two that really impacted me during my stay. The facilities are also pretty good they have a pool, gym, bbq and garden plus walking distance to the beach. The only negative is you share a room but my roomie was sweet so it was good plus you can change roomies if you don’t get along.

A mental health ward is better than this place

I am the mother of a daughter who is a current resident at Mirikai, (this is her second attempt) and I would like to say that I think the program at Mirikai is fantastic, I regularly go to visitation days, and am really impressed with what is available to the residents. It is a very homely and comfortable residence, the people staying there are fed very well, provided with lots of enjoyable things to do, outside of the obviously difficult parts of being in rehab, and the environment is strict, and well structured, but very caring. Most of all, sitting down in a valley surrounded by trees and close to the beach, the property has a very serene and healing feel to it. I actually enjoy my visits there. Thank you Mirikai for taking such good care, and providing such a lovely environment for my daughter to grow and heal.

Carla Schlesinger is incompetent and a detriment to this organisation.

Do not trust Carla Schlesinger. She is a terrible psychologist who says awful things about people. She has no idea what she is doing and is generally incompetent. Avoid her at all costs!

All the staff at Mirikai are 100% committed to providing the best outcome for the addict. My son has completed 2 of the 28 day programmes and although he has had a lapse recently in no way is it the fault of this wonderful re-hab facility. Special thanks to Daniel who has helped my son along this unfortunate journey.

I am the family of a resident and wish to express my deep gratitude for the amazing support staff and facilities provided. Wish you were bigger and could help more! The family member has grown in strength, self confidence and sobriety under your care. I understand though that the standard has dropped considerably since a number of staff have recently left, with replacement case managers reported as 'disinterested and slack' compared to the previous? This is such a tragic shame to allow this to occur and have dedicated people in your program now 'at serious risk' due to rules that used to be strict (for the resident's benefit!) now becoming so lax that residents are breaking them left, right and centre with no recourse? They are not respecting others under the same roof who are serious about their recovery, and being constantly 'triggered' by the chaos now allowed to take place? I sincerely hope this will be rectified very quickly for the residents serious about recovery.
