A parcel of mine (from the US) arrived in Australia on 14 October and has since disappeared from the "tracking" radar. My query at Auspost leads me to believe that it must still be sitting at "Customs" ... where they claim it could be for up to 2 weeks. Is this possible? How can keeping packages for up to 2 weeks in customs be routine or acceptable in Australia? Sound pretty third world...

Went there to import a boat. Very friendly staff, however it can be difficult to find the right person who is knowledgeable enough to complete the task at hand. The shelves are stuffed with all kind of illegal things (lion heads, crock parts .. etc) which customs confiscated in the past.

I went to collect my own personal items send from my husband however Customs told me to engage a broker and in fact they recommended a particular broker to me. Being a Govt agency they should not be recommending anyone.

After a trip overseas (Straddie) these are the worst individuals to deal with in any airport on the planet. They have the perception of a tree stump and personality to go with it. If BAC wants to automate the arrivals process, why not hand out guide books on a 16 hour return flight?? Plenty of time to read it. Why not?? Because it's easier to employ Rock Apes!!

Returning to Brisbane from travel overseas where everyone was so nice, welcoming and hospitable, we were greeted so rudely by some of the Australian staff. What a welcoming! Different staff directing us in different directions and then speaking down to us, when it was your people traffic management system and inconsistencies between staff that were to blame. A lot of the staff looked so miserable and unaaproachable - what bad first impressions of your own country you make for foreign visitors. Life ain't that bad and if you don't like interacting with people get a job where you don't have to. Too many people in this country would be happy to take your place and it's about time that management stepped in to address these issues.

I have to say I'm very disappointed. I paid for a particular shipping option to ensure my item would arrive by tomorrow. Its been held up in customs since Sunday 1st and now my item probably wont arrive. My brother works in Australia Post and has been keeping a track on it but he cannot do anything if it's in customs as they're separate to Australia Post. I paid extra for shipping and tracking to ensure it would be here by the 6th. It's very frustrating that I call asking for customs to check why my parcel hasn't been released and all they do is skirt the issue and tell me to contact Australia Post or a separate courier. Why would that help if my parcel isn't with AP or a separate courier...it's still in customs! Just very frustrating. I've never had an issue with customs before!

Today (Friday 14th Dec) I received some of the best customer service I have ever received. The two staff members who assisted me at the front desk, Karen Baker and Steve Catlin could not have done enough for me and I am unbelievably grateful to them. They made my Christmas and without knowing it a lot of other people's as well.
