Riffs and Rants, a trading entity of SP Maher and SL Maher, was founded in 2007 in Braidwood NSW with the aim of fusing Progressive Arts Education methods and Community Arts Delivery process. THE GOAL To encourage Regional youth to play, explore, discover and make Music, Art, Writing, Film, Animation and any creative output imaginable. THE DRIVERS Sam Maher and Steve Maher wanted country kids to access opportunities usually reserved for City kids, so they focused on Program Development and Delivery Solutions. THEN They started with a small private arts and music school and studio/rehearsal facility including a small retail outlet in Braidwood, NSW; leading a team of 12 to deliver individual music tuition to 125 students per week, 40 weeks per year, equating to 10% of Braidwood population, presented 9 community concerts in 3 years. NOW Riffs and Rants focuses on development of progressive arts and STEM (STEAM) learning modules and programs, that compliment the Australian Curriculum, and State and Territory syllabi, for delivery by classroom teachers and specialist tutors in NSW and ACT Public Schools. Programs are available for small and large ensembles, concert and school bands, and class groups. Program and delivery packages start from $3 per student per week. Program only licenses start at $1200 per annum. Professional Development and In-Service Training from $125 per participant. We love Music in Communities Network, Music Count Us In and Music Council of Australia. RRCAP Inc. In 2010, Sam and Steve founded Riffs and Rants Community Arts Project Inc. in order to separate business function from community activity. They are both current Board Members of RRCAP Inc.
