Wonderful! I started at BONDI CLAY WITH A 6 week exploring clay workshop and enjoyed it so much I did several more classes and have just joined as a member at their newly launched studio - Clayground where I can practice the skills I’ve learnt. Bondi Clay is a beautiful light filled space to learn pottery in and all the staff I’ve interacted with have been friendly and welcoming. I have done my classes ( hand building & wheel) with Kris who is a wonderful teacher- knowledgeable, flexible, patient and generous with her time often helping students wrap up after class time. I especially liked that Kris encourages students to nominate what pieces they would like to make then shows how to do it. Every week I looked forward to my pottery class. I’ve seen a couple of reviews mention difficulty finding work/ missing pieces. Occasionally its taken me a while to find a piece in amongst all the students work ( happens when other students look at work and then put it somewhere else on the shelf) however for me is more than offset by the benefit of being able to see student work for inspiration. It is really helpful to see completed work -especially for glazing ideas. I couldn’t imagine the learning experience without this element. As an added bonus I’ve always been able to find parking very close in the streets near the studio. If you are looking for an amazing pottery experience I’d highly recommend Bondi Clay.

A friend asked me to do a 6 week introductory pottery class at Bondi Clay, 6 months later, I'm still doing courses and really loving it. The Bondi Clay studio is open, airy and a beautiful space to experiment with clay. Kris has been my teacher since I started and she is just a delight. She is not only is she incredibly knowledgable and skilled but she is also very creative so she is always coming up with wonderful functional creations. AT Bondi Clay, I have learned the essentials of wheel throwing and hand building, and have been encouraged to explore and develop in areas that interest me. I find Bondi Clay has a very chilled atmosphere and the display of students' works is a feast for the eyes! It always inspires me with ideas for glaze colours, applications and designs (I've started investing in my own glazes and decals!). I always look forward to my classes here and love the beauty (at least in my eyes) and functionality of what I've made here.

I recently completed a 6 week workshop and found the experience peaceful and relaxing! The staff are friendly and helpful, the instructors are knowledgeable and very patient - especially considering I had never done pottery before! I would recommend Bondi Clay to anyone and will definitely be a regular there!

Lovely class and great owner. Amazing customer service and really informative teachers. Had really clear communication and I got my piece really fast! My grandmother loves her mug and uses it daily

What a beautiful studio!! Had the best class with my girlfriends, and had the loveliest teacher that guided us every step of the way. Will definitely be back!

I gave 5 stars initially but had to come back and review my comment. I’ve first joined the “make a mug” glass which was good but the 4 week wheel throwing class that I signed up for later on was very disappointing. What was supposed to be a relaxing and mediative pottery class turned into a frustrating workshop where things were explained only once at the beginning and then we were basically left by ourselves for the remaining 1.5 hours each time. I don’t think that the way our instructor explained it made any sense as it was way too much information to take in in one go. The worst part, however, is that Bondi clay is so extremely chaotic and badly organised. Our last class was cancelled due to an issue with the oven. Our group stood outside in the rain for half an hour before someone finally came to see us to explain the situation. I then booked in for another day to come and glaze my pieces, only to find out that they still weren’t ready and once again no one had told me. So I had to come back a third (!!!) time to finally get my pieces glazed. What’s also very annoying is that they haven’t really got a system in place when it comes to picking up or finding your pieces. No one watches what you’re doing which is why probably a lot of pieces get taken by others either by accident or on purpose and if you happen to have a missing piece, they wouldn’t even know what happened to it. When you call them they never pick up the phone and when you walk in at a random time, you can stand inside for 10 minutes without anyone speaking to you as they’re always too busy with classes or they simply don’t feel like it’s their job to look after you. Honestly by the end of my class I just wanted to get out of there and I felt really frustrated. Pottery can be a lot of fun but I don’t believe that Bondi clay is the right place to learn it.

My Girlfriend and I did a Date Night Class at Bondi Clay a few weeks ago It was so fun! The instructor greeted us as we walked in and showed us all around the studio. He talked to us about the all the pottery works around the shop and some back story about Bondi Clay. One the class started, he explained to us how to work the wheel and some starting techniques. Once we started making the pieces, the instructor was always around and helping us along the way (Even when I had clearly destroyed my own piece) and making sure that we would be doing the right techniques. We ended up walking out of that session with the biggest smiles on our faces. About 2 weeks later, we got an email to come pick up our pottery pieces. When I picked them up, the employee was really friendly and when she gave us our pieces, I was shocked at how nice that ended up. I cant recommend Bondi Clay enough, they are a great way to blow off steam after a hard week, get a little bit dirty and have a laugh along the way!
