This place was recommended by a friend and having been booked in for 2 weeks we were really looking forward to the meal - the night before we were ‘text’ to say sorry booking is cancelled and the restaurant was closed for renovations. The next evening we were strolling past and the restaurant was open. This was 2 Friday’s before Christmas, it was our Christmas do and we found it incredibly hard to find another place - then to find out it was actually open was incredibly upsetting. Not sure whether they had double booked or simply didn’t want our custom but either way we won’t be returning ever again.

We came across Can Cava by accident on our walk down to Bondi Beach, after a long Monday at the office. We ended up having one of the most fabulous, and entirely unexpected, Monday evenings out, with delicious food and wine, and learning about pintxos! We indulged with gorgeous Spanish wine, white anchovies, tuna tartare, grilled octopus, spiced meatballs, mini fuet, chorizo de Pamplona, Jamón Serrano, and alfajores with Pedro Ximenez ... the quality of the produce used and the flavours of the finished dishes are outstanding. The service was friendly and flawless, making it a perfect experience. We will be back here before long with friends!

What happened to this place, it used to be so good? Staff were nice and service was quick, but this place has gone downhill since I visited over a year ago. The lighting was too harsh (so I sat outside which was far nicer) and the music didn't suit the vibe at all. The food has clearly changed and isn't really Spanish at all, yet still has a high price tag. Pros: - Quick service - Nice outdoor seating - Staff friendly Cons: - Music too loud and doesn't suit the environment - Lighting too harsh - Overpriced for what you get, menu has clearly changed. - Venue looks a little tired All in all, it's not a bad place but not great either. I think I'm just disappointed because it was once a really good bar, and management has clearly changed a few things, and unfortunately not for the better.

I remember this place being quite unique and had great food when it opened. Not sure what’s happened. I wasn’t provided a register or code to log my visit last night (Covid plan?) staff looked surprised when I turned up for my booking and after a number of promises to get a heater for us outside it never turned up. Staff were inexperienced. Food was appalling and the furthest thing from Spanish. The aioli was sour tasting, sauce served with the potatoes was watery and tasteless. Such a shame as it could be an awesome bar. Having experienced the food and culture of Sam Sebastian and places of the like, this place didn’t hit the mark.

Had a rather strange and uninviting experience. Would not return. Arrived at 2pm for our booking and it looked like they were just opening for the day. There was a waiter but no staff to serve drinks behind the bar. I had to point out a dead cockroach on the floor. My friend ordered a lemon lime and bitters but she received what we think was a clear lemonade with a hint of bitters. Despite being there for 30 minutes the waiter did not even come over to take our food order despite being the only customers. Left not long after.

Came here a couple of years ago and had a really great time we thought food and atmosphere was great! Sadly this time was different. We had a 2pm booking, but the restaurant staff were still setting up the chairs and tables at this time, which made our arrival a bit awkward. We also found the skirt steak to be poor value at 30 for a very small portion and it came out pretty pale looking and not as rare as we asked. Otherwise the meal was okay. The potatoes were very nice, as were the goats cheese croquettes. Maybe they've had a change of management etc recently, but in our opinion it didn't live up to the high standard set by our first visit.
